Bone Grafting Reviews
Bone grafting is a procedure that oral surgeons use to provide additional support for patients who want dental implants. When patients have been missing teeth for an extended period, it's common for the jaw bone to deteriorate due to lack of stimulation. Because dental implants integrate with the jaw, patients need to have enough bone height and width to support implant placement. Bone grafting restores bone in either the upper or lower jaw to help make implant placement successful.
There are a variety of bone grafting procedures available, and the surgery you undergo will depend on your needs as a patient. Some patients need an upper bone graft, which typically means they need a sinus lift to restore the jaw bone beneath the sinus cavity. Others need an immediate bone graft after an extraction to preserve the empty tooth socket.
