Oral and maxillofacial surgeons are trained to treat a wide variety of injuries and conditions of the jaws, face, and teeth. Some of the most common oral health emergencies that oral surgeons treat include:
Whether you are experiencing a dental emergency or facial trauma, the team at Arizona Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons is here to help. Oral surgeons undergo years of hospital-based training and can administer all types of
anesthesia to help manage discomfort. If you experience an oral health emergency, we will see you as soon as possible, often the day you call our office.
If you experience a dental emergency, such as a knocked-out or broken tooth, the first step is to remain calm. Severely broken or avulsed teeth can usually be saved and treated by an oral and maxillofacial surgeon.
When your tooth is knocked out, do not clean it off or try to wipe off any blood or tissue. This material can be important for replacement. Instead, try to keep the tooth in its socket or place the tooth in a container of saliva or whole milk and bring it to the office right away. The first 30 minutes after an injury offer the best chances for replacement, so the sooner you come in, the better.
If your tooth cannot be saved after an injury, our surgeons offer dental implants to replace missing teeth permanently. Your oral surgeon will also be able to evaluate any surrounding structures, such as salivary glands and facial bones, to ensure that no other injuries are left untreated.
When you come to our office, we may take
3D scans of your face and mouth to assess all of the damages. Your oral surgeon will create a custom treatment plan catered to your exact needs.
At Arizona Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons, we offer a wide range of treatments to repair the functional and cosmetic effects of dental and facial injuries. If you or a loved one is in need of evaluation or care after a facial injury,
contact our office in Tucson, Oro Valley, or Sahuarita, AZ. Our team is always happy to help!
