Dental Implants in Oro Valley, AZ

The Right Choice for Restoring One or More Teeth

Dental implants can replace one or more teeth. Your implants will look identical to healthy teeth while preventing oral health problems such as bone loss and dental shifting. No other tooth replacement option preserves your facial bone structure like dental implants, which is why many dental professionals recommend implants as the healthiest tooth replacement option.

Dr. Wood, Dr. Coles, Dr. Saghafi, and Dr. Holbrook are experts at placing dental implants and helping more patients qualify for implant-based treatment. Contact Arizona Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons in Oro Valley, AZ, today if you have missing or failing teeth and would like to explore your restoration options.

What Is a Dental Implant?

Dental implants essentially mimic the way a natural tooth’s root works: the roots of your teeth create a firm hold so that you can bite and tear foods. Dental implants are inserted into the jaw bone to replace the roots of missing teeth. The medical-grade titanium post naturally integrates with your bone, creating a strong foundation for your replacement teeth. Your final crowns are secured onto the posts with a connective abutment, creating beautiful and long-lasting results.

The Benefits of Dental Implants

Dental implants offer many benefits over dentures and other tooth replacement options. Some of the advantages of dental implants include:
1

Versatility

Your treatment plan is tailored to your exact needs, whether you need to replace a single tooth or your entire smile through full-arch restoration.
2

Prevent Bone Loss

Dental implants are the only tooth replacement option that stimulate the jaw bone, preventing the jaw bone from deteriorating due to tooth loss.
3

Long-Term Results

Because the post fuses to the jaw bone, your implants become a secure addition to your smile and can last a lifetime with proper care and good oral hygiene.
4

Enjoy Your Favorite Foods

Dentures and bridges can make it difficult to eat, whereas dental implants restore full biting and chewing force, so you can eat comfortably and confidently.

Types of Dental Implants

Our surgeons at Arizona Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons offer a variety of implants and will help you select the right choice based on your restorative and financial needs.

  • Single Tooth Replacement. We can insert a dental implant anywhere in the mouth where you would like a replacement tooth. Implants can replace any type of tooth, including molars.
  • Immediate Implants. If you need a tooth extracted, we can insert a dental implant on the same day as the extraction. This saves you money and greatly reduces the total treatment time.
  • Multiple Teeth Replacement. An implant-supported bridge restores several teeth right next to each other. With an implant, your existing teeth do not need to be filed down to hold the bridge.
  • Full-Arch Restoration. The Straumann® Pro Arch system provides a complete smile makeover using dental implants to support a fixed prosthesis in one or both arches.

By using our unique 1-2-3 implant placement methodology, we significantly reduce the time required to complete implant-based restoration.

Dental Implant Procedure

During your consultation, your oral surgeon will take 3D scans, discuss your restoration goals, and design a treatment plan. These scans may also be used to create custom 3D surgical guides for your procedure. We will also select the type of anesthesia used for your surgical procedure. Most patients undergo IV sedation for dental implant placement.

You will return to our office for your oral surgery procedure. After administering your anesthesia, the surgeon will make an incision in the gum tissue and carefully place the implants into the bone. The surgical sites will be sutured and you will rest until your anesthesia wears off.

There will be a healing period of several weeks before you can resume full chewing function. A soft diet may be necessary for some time, but most patients return to their normal routines within a week or two. Your dentist may provide a temporary prosthesis to wear during the healing period. Once the implant posts have fully healed, you will receive your final prosthesis and can enjoy your beautiful, healthy new teeth.

Cost of Dental Implants

The cost of replacing a tooth or teeth with dental implants varies for every patient. We take several factors into consideration, such as the number of implants you need, if you require bone grafting or tooth extractions, your insurance, and your choice of anesthesia. We will provide you with a cost estimate during the consultation.

Denture Replacement With Dental Implants

Patients who wear removable dentures often seek a long-term alternative, because dentures often slip inside the mouth and cause sores. You must replace dentures every few years and have them professionally fitted, which can add up over time. Because there is nothing fused to the jaw bone, you are at risk of jaw bone atrophy.

The Straumann Pro Arch fixed solution is ideal for patients who currently wear full or partial dentures. This treatment uses multiple implants to support a fixed prosthesis. Your new teeth will stay in place at all times and preserve your facial structure. If you’re ready to replace your dentures in Oro Valley, AZ, contact our practice today.

Types of Anesthesia

We offer a variety of anesthesia choices to ensure a comfortable oral surgery experience.

Linda Reviews Her Dental Implants Procedure Watch Review

"I came to AZOMS to have a tooth extraction and a dental implant. I was very nervous. I really wasn’t sure what I was in for until Dr. Coles explained everything from the beginning to the end of what was going to be happening. Dr. Coles has such a wonderful bedside/chairside manner that I felt that I was in very good hands. My dental implant feels so natural that, yes, I cannot even feel which side it is on. I would recommend my friends to see Dr. Coles because of the excellent care that I received."

"I was referred by my primary dentist when I had an old bridge break at the gum line, and so knew it had to be extracted and an implant done. Very warm welcoming; greeted very professionally. Dr. Coles was very calm, collected, explained everything, put everyone at ease. The staff is phenomenal — they are great. They always greet you by name; they greet you with a smile. They make sure that scheduling is per your schedule — they'll make adjustments. They're very pleasant on the phone. I get reminders. They're excellent to work with. I've told numerous people, "Don't go anywhere else. Come and see Dr. Coles.""

"I had a missing tooth, and then I had another big crown on the other side, so Dr. Coles decided, why don't we just take that tooth out and just put two nice implants in there. I was a bit nervous because I don't do well with pain. I've had other surgeries before, and I said, "Oh wow, another surgery." But it turned out to be not so bad after all. Dr. Coles is a very friendly, outgoing doctor. He just made the procedure go nice and smooth because he's very down-to-earth, and he made me feel very comfortable when I came to see him. Now I have two lovely molars in there, and I don't have any gaps in my mouth, and it's nice to chew, and I'm able to eat everything now, so I'm quite happy with the end result. They feel like my natural teeth and look like my natural teeth. I would definitely recommend, and I have sent patients out to them from Casa Grande to come and see them — it's worth the drive. It's been an awesome experience, and if I ever do need implants again, I will definitely come back."

Alicia Reviews Her Dental Implants Procedure Watch Review

"Well, my sister got her wisdom teeth out — extracted — first, and so when my sister's wisdom teeth extraction was so good (she had a great experience) that we just had to come back for my wisdom teeth extraction as well. I wasn't really nervous because I saw how great the recovery that my sister had was. The doctor was talking to me — I had met Dr. Wood before so I knew who he was — so that made it a lot calmer to me. The procedure itself — it went really smoothly, and I just remember waking up and just knowing they were taking care of me. My recovery went really well. I just made sure to lay low and for about three or four days, I was eating really soft foods. Within a week or two later, I was eating regular foods. Dr. Wood was really nice. He's really funny too, and he just knows how to calm you down. He's really friendly. The staff was really welcoming to me as I came in. They always make sure that you're comfortable in your situations. One of my favorite things that they did was Dr. Wood called the night after to see how they were doing and to check up on them, on the recovery. And so it's really just a welcoming place to come, and I think that the recovery went really well."

"My name is Ben. I am from Tucson. I've had two dental implants done by Arizona Oral Surgeons. The staff were welcoming and placed me at ease as soon as I arrived. Dr. Coles was very professional, very self-assured in what he was doing, and did a great job of explaining what the procedure was going to be. Both of the procedures went very well. It's nice to have the replacement implants and have a full set of teeth. For all my friends and family, I highly recommend Arizona Oral Surgeons."

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does dental implant surgery take?

Dental implant placement takes between 30–60 minutes for a single implant. If multiple implants are placed or you are undergoing Straumann Pro Arch treatment, the procedure will take between 1 and 3 hours.

Are tooth implants painful?

IV sedation is often used for this procedure, which renders you into a sleep-like state. You will not feel discomfort and most patients have no memory of the surgery afterward. Some discomfort can be expected following any type of surgical procedure, but this subsides within a few days.

Can you finance dental implants?

Our office accepts several financing options to cover the cost of your dental implant treatment, including CareCredit® and LendingClub®. We can explain these options in detail during your consultation and help you apply, or you can easily apply online.

Who places dental implants?

Dental implant placement is an oral and maxillofacial surgery procedure, therefore an oral surgeon is the most qualified professional to perform it. Oral surgeons specialize in implant dentistry and many other oral surgery procedures, and can safely administer all types of anesthesia. When a patient needs implants, a dentist will refer the patient to an oral surgeon.
